Editing a Live Page vs Creating a Pending Revision

It’s important to understand what happens when you edit something that’s already published and live, versus something still awaiting approval.
Editing something already published
If you have permission to publish (Editor role and above), changes you save or update on a live page go live immediately – there’s no separate approval step. Use the Preview button before clicking Update if you want to check first.
If your role requires review
Editing a page you don’t have publishing rights for creates a pending revision rather than changing the live version straight away. The current live page stays exactly as it is until your changes are approved.
Careful: Always use the Preview option to check a change before confirming Publish or Update on a live page – once it’s live, visitors may see it immediately, even briefly.
