How the Review and Approval Process Works

Depending on your role, changes you make may need to be reviewed before they go live, rather than publishing immediately.

Who this applies to

If you’re a Author or Contributor (unless permissions are slightly different), or your account has been set up with a review workflow, your changes are submitted for someone with a higher permission level to check before they appear on the live site.

Submitting for review

1. Make your edits as normal in the block editor.
2. Instead of a “Publish” button, you’ll see “Submit for Review”.
3. Click it – this notifies an editor or administrator that your content is ready to be checked.

What happens next

A reviewer will check the content and either approve it (publishing it live) or leave as pending for changes to be made. See the next guide for what to expect after submitting.

Tip: You can keep editing a pending submission until it’s actually approved – it won’t go live without someone else’s sign-off.
